Danish based Sekoia has received a € 2.7m investment led by venture capital firm Northcap Partners – NCP-IVS III. Sekoia provides assisted living solutions, which bring significant efficiency improvements to care homes.

When looking at the demographic challenges new technologies and tools within healthcare have been requested for ages. The many projects here have not yielded enough products, but
contrary to this trend Sekoia has turned a market out of supporting care homes with a touchscreen platform that simplifies work life for the care workers.

“Sekoia sees the investment as a strong approval of what we have achieved up till now. From here on we aim at fine-tuning our product to further improve our client business case, and become an even more attractive product to care homes in Denmark and nearby markets. It is an opportunity for us to further strengthen our team and continue our efforts to be the world’s best point-of-care platform”, says Ole Langvad Wessby, CEO of Sekoia.

The platform provides intelligent information, communication and activity opportunities, currently at more than 40 care homes in Denmark, supporting more than 1 million care tasks every month. In one of the larger Danish municipalities (Odense), Sekoia’s platform has brought efficiency cost savings of € 1.3m.

“The elderly population is growing rapidly worldwide. This provides a significant market opportunity to Sekoia. In Northcap, we look forward to working with the company’s strong management team on the internationalization of the solutions to markets like the UK, Germany and the rest of Scandinavia. Denmark is a welfare technological hotbed and the existing customer base has provided valuable input to the solution, which is now ready for international roll-out”, says Kim Wiencken, Partner at Northcap.

Klaus Nyengaard, who was the original business angel investing in Sekoia, continues as chairman of the company, and will use his experience to promote internationalization and growth.
